The Dude:

http://www.easternuswx.com/bb/index.php?s=...dpost&p=1220707

Your perceptions are pretty much true as they relate to my posting in this forum. I personally would prefer to have discussions where people from both sides are bringing interesting ideas to the table and forcefully challenging my positions with well-thought out critiques. I have a very open mind and readily modify my positions when presented with convincing arguments.

These discussions, however, are far too rare in this forum. The only one I can think of over the past few weeks has been the flag burning amendment thread, which was quite civil and interesting. Everything else always turns into a right v. left talking points contest with the same posters posting the same predicatable tripe without giving it any degree of independent thought. Once it becomes clear that the debate is not going to be an interesting exchange of ideas, I suppose I do shift into win the debate mode. Most of the time, when I do this, I do this with the goal of sharing my opinions and thought process in the hopes of imparting others with some thoughts that may allow them to build on their own positions.

Anyhow, that's my 2 cents.

PHOTOS from my personal DREAMLAND! :), In the Sibillini mountains, still a lot of SNOW...
