Bernard, Meteorologist, The Weather Channel Winter weather advisories have been upgraded to winter storm warnings for portions of the central Plains today. In the West, heavy snow warnings have been issued for the mountains of Utah beginning this evening. On the Great Plains, 4 to 8 inches of snow are forecast from parts of western Kansas through southeastern Nebraska (including Omaha) today and tonight as cold air plunges southward changing rain over to snow. Several inches of snow are likely in northwestern Iowa, also. Elsewhere, snow advisories are posted for areas of Washington state and northern Oregon.
