Jeb
Powerful winds in Southern California 7:00 A.M. ET 12/17/2004 Tim Ballisty, Meteorologist, The Weather Channel Santa Ana winds through the mountains, passes and canyons of Southern California will continue to howl today. Yesterday, the winds were quite powerful and dangerous. Driving was hazardous as the ferocious winds blew high-profile vehicles off the local highways and churned up teh dust lowering visibility. The winds at Laguna Peak, south of Oxnard, gusted to a remarkable 120 mph yesterday. High wind warnings and wind advisories continue to be in effect until the mid- afternoon hours. Be extra cautious when navigating through the usual suspect areas; the mountains, passes, and canyons. A cold front will move eastward through the Northeastern region today. Light snow will accompany the front and a little lake-effect snow will fall downwind Lakes Erie and Ontario. Wind gusts over 30 mph will be common.
