Snow and wind across the Great Lakes

8:00 P.M. ET 1/18/2005

Tom Moore, Sr. Meteorologist, The Weather Channel

Low pressure will sweep out of Canada and into the Great Lakes overnight. The result will be a band of snow fron Wisconsin to Ohio by morning. A little freezing rain may fall over parts of Iowa and northern Illinois, as well. Snow will generally be in the 2 to 4 inch range. Light snow will make it to the East Coast by Wednesday night but amounts will be light by then. Temperatures will be a bit milder across the Northeast on Wednesday, due to a potent southwesterly wind, however.

In the West, heavy amounts of rain has pushed rivers in the Pacific Northwest, especially in western Washington and Oregon, over their banks. More rain is in the forecast over the next couple of days but the heaviest amounts will be pushed up into Canada.
