Tom Moore, Sr. Meteorologist, The Weather Channel

Snow advisories are in place for southwestern Virginia and northern North Carolina overnight as a weak storm sweeps southeastward from the Ohio Valley. Snow may be mixed with rain at the beginning. Up to 4 inches fell from east central Indiana to West Virginia and parts of North Carolina may see up to two inches. The next weather system will be even more potent will enter the northern Plains Friday morning. Winter storm watches are already in place from the eastern Dakotas right into the Mid-Atlantic in anticipation of this significant storm. Snow will turn heavy across the Upper Midwest Friday. Minneapolis will finally receive a daily snowfall over 1 inch for the first time this season. Snow will begin in earnest around Chicago later in the day and through the evening. Moderate amounts of snow will sweep through the Middle Atlantic region on Saturday. Fortunately, the snow will be gone for both championship football games on Sunday but it will be quite cold.
