Slumbering Tropics

The Atlantic and Pacific Basins remain void of any tropical systems. Tropical development is unlikely in these areas in the immediate future.

For those of you who are itching for tropical activity you will have to look towards the Indian Ocean. Tropical Cyclone 02S is currently skimming the northern tip of Madagascar on its way to an anticipated clash with the African coast near the border of Tanzania and Mozambique by the weekend. Winds are whipping at 30 to 40 mph and are not expected to intensify before landfall. The main concern will be heavy rain and flooding in the aforementioned areas.
